The Assam authorities has determined to present khadi garments to state workers as a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi.

The federal government has determined to offer khadi shirts, and shawls and stoles product of ‘Eri’–a number of silk produced in Assam– to grade IV workers in a phased method beginning this month.

Chairing a gathering to expedite the method of giving free khadi garments to state authorities workers, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated that the transfer is a part of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India) marketing campaign and to advertise Assamese weavers.

Sonowal acknowledged that the transfer would strengthen the khadi business within the state and empower native weavers as almost 80,000 khadi shirts, shawls and stoles can be required to be knitted within the first section to provide as items to grade IV workers.

“Khadi business is the satisfaction of the native business. Promotion of this business will quantity to endorsing an ideology of self-reliance and empowerment of each man and lady,” stated Sonowal.

The CM stated that the state authorities would open new retailers to advertise sale of khadi garments. He added that the transfer will quantity to displaying true respect to Mahatma Gandhi who promoted khadi as a part of awakening of nationalism.
