The sacred portals of the Himalayan shrine of Kedarnath have been closed for the winter season on Monday amid a contemporary spell of snowfall.
The gates of the temple, which homes one of many 11 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and attracts devotees from internationally, have been closed at eight:30 am after an elaborate ceremony.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath, and officers of Devasthanam Board, amongst others, attended the ceremony.
The 2 chief ministers arrived on the shrine on Sunday to supply prayers and check out the reconstruction tasks underway at Kedarpuri.
Snowfall accompanied by a drizzle started in Kedarnath on Sunday evening and continued until the morning.
