On the “momentous” event of 5 years of One Rank One Pension (OROP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday saluted troopers for courageously defending the nation.
“At the moment, 5 years in the past, India took a historic step in the direction of guaranteeing the well-being of our nice troopers, who courageously defend our nation. #5YearsOfOROP is a momentous event. India waited for OROP for many years,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
“I salute our veterans for his or her outstanding service!” he added.
The Centre has disbursed over Rs 42,700 crore to 20.6 lakh retired Defence personnel underneath the OROP scheme since its inception, the Defence Ministry had mentioned on Friday. “The yearly recurring expenditure on account of OROP is about Rs 7,123 crore and for about six years, ranging from July 1, 2014, the entire recurring expenditure labored out to roughly Rs 42,740 crore,” the Ministry mentioned.
The OROP scheme has been efficient since 1 July, 2014. Beneath the scheme, the armed forces personnel retiring in the identical rank with the identical size of service will get the uniform pension, no matter their date of retirement.
