A Delhi BJP chief has moved the Supreme Courtroom looking for a route to the Election Fee to take away symbols from poll and EVMs and exchange it with ‘identify, age, instructional qualification and ‘ of candidates, contending it might finish corruption and criminalisation in politics in India.
BJP chief and advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay – who has filed a number of PILs for electoral reforms and de-criminalisation of politics – urged the highest courtroom to declare using celebration symbols on EVMs unlawful, unconstitutional and violative of the Structure.
He stated the perfect resolution to weed corruption and criminalisation in politics was to interchange political celebration symbols on poll papers and EVMs with identify, age, instructional qualification and of the candidates.
Ballots and EVMs with out political celebration image will assist electors to vote and help clever, diligent and sincere candidates; test dictatorship of political celebration bosses in ticket distribution; and power them to offer tickets to these religiously working for “folks’s welfare,” Upadhyay contended.
Citing an Affiliation for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report, the petitioner identified that out of 539 MPs, 233 MPs had been dealing with felony circumstances.
“Out of 542 winners analysed after 2014 election, 185 had declared felony circumstances towards themselves and out of 543 winners analysed after 2009 Lok Sabha election, 162 had declared felony circumstances towards themselves. There is a rise of 44 per cent within the variety of Lok Sabha MPs with declared felony circumstances towards themselves since 2009, and the basis reason for this weird scenario is using political celebration symbols on poll paper and EVM,” the petitioner submitted.
