A DAY AFTER a video displaying a gaggle of males filming an Asiatic lion preying on a cow, the forest division on Friday detained 5 males and launched a hunt for the prime accused who’s on the run.
Within the movies, a male Asiatic lion is seen rising from a bush and charging at a cow in an try to kill it. A bunch of males can also be seen taking pictures movies of the encounter on their cellphones.
On Friday, Dushyant Vasavada, chief conservator of forests (CCF) of Junagadh wildlife circle stated that forest division had detained 5 males on expenses of harassing of the lion and coming into the reserved forest space with out permission. They’ve been recognized as Mukesh Singhad, Dilip Singhad, Dilip Lalakiya, Bhana Singhad and Satish Nagraliya. Forest officers stated that whereas Nagraliya was a resident of Jamvala village of Gir Gadhda taluka of Gir Somnath district, the remaining 4 are residents of Ghantvad village in Kodinar taluka of Gir Somnath district.
“The movies had been shot in Ghantvad village close to Jamvala. The way wherein the lion arrives on the spot and the truth that the accused knew the course from which the lion arrives suggests one thing prison. We’re investigating if the accused had baited the lion,” Vasavada advised The Indian Specific. Mayuddin Kadri, the prime accused within the case is absconding.
The CCF stated that if the Covid-19 assessments of the 5 who’ve been detained returns unfavourable, they’d be arrested and produced in a court docket.
Vasavada stated that the video was shot in a reserved forest which is a part of Gir forest.
